1) What skills have you developed through this module and how effectively do you think you have applied them?
I'd say the main skill I've learnt from this module is applying my research to my work. This design process module has helped me gain a better appreciation for the importance of collection and research. Another skill I'd say has improved is my ability with development and changes made to my work. I've found the crits really helpful with this module as it really made me look at my work in a different light. Finally, categorising..! I feel the knowledge learnt about collecting, organising and ordering information will be of great benefit to future briefs.
2) What approaches to/methods of research have you developed and how have they informed your design development process?
My research consisted of facts and figures from the internet, books, questionnaires and looking at other artists. I feel like i applied my knowledge gained into my work, as i gained a better understanding of my chosen subject: dreams.
3) What strengths can you identify in your work and how have/will you capitalise on these?
I really enjoyed creating and experimenting with the designs themselves, looking at different layouts and compositions. Im pretty pleased with the overall look of the dream interpretation cards along with the idea itself. In the future, I plan to experiment alot more with designs...
4) What weaknesses can you identify in your work and how will you address these more fully?
Although this module helped to improve our researching skills, i'd say its still one of my weak points and so i plan to improve this as i go along. Hopefully looking deeper and further into the subject choice..
5) Identify five things that you will do differently next time and what do you expect to gain from doing these?
- more research: gaining more research will help to improve my project as i would have developed a greater understanding of the topic itself
- time managment: this is to be improved! managing my time better will help my briefs get a better structure. its also a nice feeling when everythings under control!
- design sheets: by doing more design sheets, my ideas will get developed in a stronger way...
- experimentation: by experimenting more, my knowledge and abilities will improve and hopefully this will be reflected in my work.
